Return to Na Pali: Ultimate Edition Revised

Introduction

This map pack is a modified version of "Return to Na Pali: Ultimate Edition" which is originally made by Lightning Hunter for Unreal Tournament.

Specification

Base map pack: Return to Na Pali: Ultimate Edition v1.1.
Supported game versions: Unreal Gold 227i, 227j.
Supported game modes: single-player, Coop.
Number of playable maps: 27.
Initial single-player map: RTNPUER-Intro1.
Initial Coop map: RTNPUER-DuskFalls.

Features

This conversion preserves the most basic features of "Return to Na Pali: Ultimate Edition" described in RTNPUEv11_HD.txt. The notable differences of the revised version are:

  • The primary target version is 227j, although the campaign may also be played using UT with custom UPak.u (this archive does not provide UPak.u for UT).
  • All revised maps have the "RTNPUER-" prefix, so they may coexist with the original Return to Na Pali maps without causing any compatibility issues.
  • These maps are compatible with the standard UPak.u; auxiliary classes are defined in RTNPUER.u and RTNPUER_CS.u.
  • Detailed kill statistics and oldskool features (such as permanent carcasses) are not supported.
  • Weapons from olweapons.u have been replaced with the original Unreal weapons.
  • Some maps have been changed for a better support of Coop game. Note, however, that the next map after RTNPUER-Nalic2 is not playable in Coop game.

Installation

Either copy (without replacing) all the files from folders Maps, Music, System, and Textures in this archive (including the subfolders of "Botpack227_2023-12-21 packages", unless you have such files installed already) to the corresponding directories of your Unreal 227 installation or add additional Paths= into your Unreal.ini, linking those directories.

Once the file "SP Mapset - Return to Na Pali UER.int" is installed in the Unreal's System folder, the mapset should appear in the list of available campaigns when staring a new game.

When hosting a Coop game, it's recommended to use the low-res version of texture package RTNPUE_SKINS.utx (see folder "Textures/Low-Res RTNPUE_SKINS"). Low-res versions of System files rtnpdec.u, u2rtnp.u, and zcu97Unreali.u are also available in System/Low-Res.
